Win 7 Update Causing Network Issues

January 10th, 2019

A Windows Security Update pushed out in the January 2019 bundle of Windows Updates seems to be causing networking issues with Windows 7 workstations using a certain type of network sharing.
Of course, the security update is important, as it protects against vulnerabilities like Spectre and Meltdown, which we have been hearing warnings about recently.
If you use a Windows 7 machine and start having network issues with mapped drives or shared network printers or scanners, this could be the cause. WNC can assist in uninstalling the security update, or in determining if there is a more secure way to resolve the issue while Microsoft works to resolve the issue in whole.
As always, if you have any questions, please call us at 770.578.5158 or send us a message.
